About Costa Rica
Costa Rica’s national territory is 51.100 square kilometers (19,700 square miles), about half the size of Kentucky and slightly larger than Switzerland. Although mountains dominate Costa Rica’s geography, stretching from the northern border to the southern. It also has lowlands and beautiful beaches on both the Pacific and Atlantic oceans.
Climate
There are only two seasons, the rainy season which runs from mid May until November and the dry season from December to April. The atlantic coast is an exception because it can rain practically all year round. San Jose lies between the two extremes but has the perfect climate all through the year. With an average temperature of 72F (22C), days can get fairly hot in the capital, but it always cools down to where you may need a sweater or jacket.
Taxes and Tips
All hotels are required by law to include a 13% sales tax. Restaurants also must add a 13% tax and 10% gratuity to your check. You could leave and additional tip of a small percentage if the service is excellent.
Costa Rica Regions
North Pacific

Caribbean
The Tortuguero National Park is a fundamental location in the north Caribbean and a habitat for countless flora and fauna species. The rasta culture and reggae music, multi colored houses, quiet beaches surrounded by dense and exuberant nature are some off the wonders you will find.
Central Valley
The capital city of Costa Rica; San Jose is located in the central valley, surrounded by moderate active volcanoes, national parks and covered by coffee plantations on the high lands and mountain ranges.
Arenal
Deep rumbling, ascending smoke and red lava, running down: the Arenal volcano in la Fortuna town is an activite volcano. It has been active for the last 2 million years. It peak has an almost perfect cone-shape, reaching to the sky! Gases, ashes and smoke take different forms. Lava can be seen running down its sides out of its crater almost continuously.
Monteverde
A community worldwide recognized for its environmental efforts! Small town which focuses on protecting its amazing biodiversity with sustainable practices.
Celeste River
The Celeste River has its name due the color of its turquoise waters produced by a chemical reaction, where the rivers Buena Vista and Roble converge. From this point, the river flows by the forest without losing its color. Since the river originates on the volcano, it has thermal waters and mud clay with minerals that are great for the skin.
